Rich and Pat Marosey
December 2005
By Kathy Thompson
In November, I had the opportunity to brew with two of HBA’s newest members, Pat and Rich Marosey. Rich is the new head custodian at Hunters Glen, where I work. We met this past summer and quickly became friends. Even though Rich and Pat are new members of Hop Barley and the Alers, they are not new to brewing. They have brewed many beers. However, their beers weren’t brewed at home. They went to Brewers U, where you brew on site and then return to bottle it. Pat would love to just go into a brew store and randomly pick ingredients to create her own beer. I think she’s got some great ideas, too.
The weather was perfect. We couldn’t have picked a better day to brew. Rich and Pat made an All-Grain Fat Tire Clone from North American Clone Brews. At the club auction Pat and Rich purchased a couple of kegs and can’t wait to fill them. They are slowly accumulating the equipment necessary to brew on their own. Their dog Sirrus enjoyed watching the brewing process. She especially likes licking the grains that fall to the ground in the process! Rich and Pat have decided to name their beer, Sirrus, Fat Girl Ale. And rightly so, as you can see from the picture Sirrus was on the scene to help out…..if any grains fell to the pavement! She’s so helpful.
